{"id":6240,"date":"2011-04-07T00:00:03","date_gmt":"2011-04-07T08:00:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/evolvingmusic.mixmatchmusic.com\/?p=6240"},"modified":"2012-09-10T13:16:38","modified_gmt":"2012-09-10T21:16:38","slug":"new-apple-policy-changes-to-how-mobbase-apps-are-submitted-to-itunes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.mixmatchmusic.com\/evolvingmusic\/2011\/04\/07\/new-apple-policy-changes-to-how-mobbase-apps-are-submitted-to-itunes\/","title":{"rendered":"New Apple Policy &#038; Changes To How MobBase Apps Are Submitted To iTunes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mobbase.com\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-6243\" title=\"full logo-w\" src=\"http:\/\/evolvingmusic.mixmatchmusic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/full-logo-w-300x118.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"118\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.mixmatchmusic.com\/evolvingmusic\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/full-logo-w-300x118.png 300w, http:\/\/www.mixmatchmusic.com\/evolvingmusic\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/full-logo-w-1024x404.png 1024w, http:\/\/www.mixmatchmusic.com\/evolvingmusic\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/full-logo-w.png 1312w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Apple\" href=\"http:\/\/www.apple.com\" target=\"_blank\">Apple<\/a> has notified us they are now requiring a unique<a title=\"iOSDev\" href=\"http:\/\/developer.apple.com\/programs\/register\/\" target=\"_blank\"> iTunes Developer Account<\/a> for each new app submitted to the App Store.\u00a0 The change in policy means that build-your-own-app companies, including <a title=\"mobbase\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mobbase.com\" target=\"_blank\">MobBase<\/a>, can no longer submit apps to the App Store under a master iTunes Developer Account.<\/p>\n<p>This has an immediate impact on apps currently in the approval queue, which will have to be resubmitted under a new iTunes Developer Account.\u00a0 We\u2019ve communicated details to affected customers and offered to refund their set up fees, as well as a generous discount on iPhone activation <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mobbase.com\/pricing\" target=\"_blank\">fees<\/a> going forward.<\/p>\n<p>Apple tells us that apps already approved and live in the App Store are unaffected.<\/p>\n<p>Apple\u2019s change in policy means it will take more time, more effort and more money to get an iOS app, regardless of whether artists work with MobBase, <a title=\"make your own iPhone app\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mobbase.com\" target=\"_blank\">make your own iPhone app<\/a> company or a custom developer.<\/p>\n<p>We can\u2019t do anything about the $99 a year Apple requires for each iOS Developer Account.\u00a0 However, we\u2019re absorbing a big part of the extra <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mobbase.com\/faq#appActvCost\" target=\"_blank\">cost and work<\/a> involved in getting an app ready to be approved under the new Apple process.<\/p>\n<p>While this is not great news for anybody, we\u2019re doing our best to help artists navigate the changes in Apple\u2019s policy and still provide a great way for them to build their own iPhone\/iOS apps.<\/p>\n<p>Artists still need a mobile app to connect with fans and help build their careers. And MobBase remains the easiest and least expensive way to get one that looks great and has all the functionality you need. And soon we\u2019ll be announcing some more options: Android and Desktop apps are not affected by Apple\u2019s policy change, so you will be able to get a great app for your Android and Desktop using fans at a ridiculously low price.
